Use ‘talk to text’ features

If you struggle to type or text because of arthritis pain in your hands, try using talk-to-text features instead! Did you know that Word can type from your voice? Just go to Home > Dictate. Your computer will listen to your voice and text will appear on the screen. You can even instruct punctuation, formatting and editing!2

Meal prep

During a flare up, it can be daunting to have to stand in the kitchen and cook a meal. It’s a good idea to stock up on healthy ready meals, or on a good day, meal prep. Cook a large amount and store individual portions in the fridge or freezer. This way, when you are having a flare up, you have a healthy home-cooked meal ready to go.

Love gardening? Arthritis doesn’t have to mean giving up the hobbies you enjoy. A wall garden can be easier to tend to, without having to spend time on your knees. Keep plants between waist and shoulder height. This can be created with shelves or hanging baskets, or if you’re feeling a bit creative, an old wooden pallet!

When you are struggling with arthritic symptoms, the last thing you feel like doing is dragging a heavy hoover around the house. Did you know that lightweight, joint pain friendly tools are available to help make these tasks easier? For bottles and brushes, try using a rolling trolley or tray when taking them from room to room.
